stop biting me it makes me cry

I read recently that vinegar helps mosquito bites. The PH of it neutralizes the awful itching poison or something. So far I find it works pretty well. Usually a bite will cause me hideous itching for 5 days or so. If I put vinegar on it as soon as I notice I’ve got it it seems that bite is gone in 24 hours (leaving only a tiny, faint, non-itchy red mark for a couple days). However, that 24 hour period seems to condense all of 5 days worth of itch into it. GAH! Seriously, bitten right now. I might need to be sedated.

To highlight the bites which are mostly on my ankles, feet and lower calves, today I am wearing a knee length olive drab skirt, and short sleeved white blouse with sort of stripe-y olive drab and pink floral pattern on it.

  1. Supposedly if you don’t eat bananas at all, the bugs are less likely to bite you.

  2. Yes, I found that to be sort of helpful. And massive doses of vitamin B as well. I think the only answer though is to live someplace where there aren’t mosquitos. πŸ™‚ Sadly not an option for me right now.

  3. Yeah, I don’t know the science of it but it does seem to help. Although I must just be a tasty treat because I tend to get bitten regardless. Except when I lived in CA by the ocean with no fresh water around really and there were no bugs for 7 years and I got terribly spoiled.

  4. Vinegar is so damn cool. You can also use it to clean your windows, disinfect a cutting board, treat athlete’s foot.

    And it’s damn cheap.

  5. It also softens hard water, rinses soap build up from your hair, makes an excellent drain unblocker (heat and pour baking soda in the drain followed by the hot vinegar), may lower cholesteral and treats jellyfish sings!

  6. And you can gargle apple cider vinegar for a sore throat!
