I got a random MySpace message from a friend from college who I haven’t seen or heard from in at least 8 years. I always have a hard time knowing what to say to people like that. Like, here, let me encapsulate the last decades worth of news and goings on into a few paragraphs for you. It’s just not possible and really highlights how hard it is to keep up with people you care about if you aren’t on top of it doing it regularly. I’ve been a terrible correspondent lately to everyone, most especially my closest peeps. Sorry, I can’t promise to be better. It seems lately I’m just getting flakier and flakier. I’m sure I’ll get it back together. Eventually.

Thanks for all your thoughts for my mom. So far she seems fine, if a little doped up.

  1. no flakiness on either your or my part will ever ever change the fact that i love you.

i’m glad it went ok for your mom!

  2. I love you! More than pie! More than ever!

PS – it was Emily who messaged me, as in Rachel & Emily, Khaled & Emily, Reef Emily. Weird, no? She and Khaled are still married and have a couple kids.

  3. gah! kids! why does that seem so weird???

  4. I KNOW!!!! I guess Rachel is still married to that Steven guy and also planning kids.

I will remain childless and always feel a little like Peter Pan when everyone I know continues to do weird grown up things.

  5. You have been out of the loop a lot. It’s sad. 😦 I miss you. Tell the six people in your house to fuck off and go away, you need some alone time sometimes. 😉

  6. It would help if I worked less, maybe, or slept less or something. Or maybe if I was just more coherent after work and the little sleep I get, then I could properly loop. 😦 As it is now, I’m neglecting work to try and catch up and I’m not catching up, I’m barely keeping up with days correspondence.

  7. Missed the thing about your mom, but best wishes to both of y’all.

And I hear you on the “hard to keep in contact” thing – I wouldn’t talk to anyone from my past if it weren’t for the internet.

  8. I must be missing stuff. What’s the matter with your Mum?

    My best wishes anyway.

  9. haha! I did that to someone recently. Except it was more like 15 years since I’d seen her. Add extra discomfort points because the last time I saw her she practically threw herself at me, but I was so clueless that I missed every signal and skipped straight to regretting that we never hooked up. At least I got the chance to tell her that I was stupid, because it really seriously was just about the stupidest I’ve ever been.
