Last night we saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and now I want to run away and be King of the Pirates! I was a little disappointed in some aspects of it, but over all I think I like it the best of the three movies. It had elements of fantasy that were perfectly woven to make me think of the the adventure books I read as a child. The Pirate Lords were fabulous, as was the plot surrounding them with Calypso.
Will and Elizabeth getting married was the most cheesetastic thing ever. The multi-Malkovich Cap’n Sparrows in Davy Jones’ locker was the best thing ever! (TATTOOS, people, shirtless, heavily tattooed Johnny Depp.) Chow Yun Fat! Keith Richards! Holy shit, how hot has Orly gotten? DAMN! Jack Sparrow is still my one true pirate love. Also I’m ignoring that Norrington died because I think that was totally intolerable. In my post PoC world, Elizabeth (played by ME) remains the Pirate King and sails all over having adventures with all the other Pirate Lords and Will take his job of ferrying the dead seriously and thus has a long voyage with Norrington on the Flying Dutchman which is now crewed by by a bunch of hotass teenage boys who died in a shipwreck.
Also I have a Jack Rackham flag as my front license plate, and I see they did some real research and used real flags on the Pirate Lord’s ships, including the Jack Rackham for the Black Pearl. I can’t decide if this accidentally makes me so dorky that I’m going to have to put something else on my car.
How will I get any work done today when all I want to do is fantasize about being a pirate?

It’s really the only sensible way for it all to work out!

I think the addition of the ship-load of teenaged boys as a the crew really MAKES this fantasy. I totally approve and might have to write a pirate book after all (something we discussed last night).
A pirate’s life for me!

I need a pirate icon. You beat me to the best one. Maybe we could design our own and get Garrett to make us a flag since he works at a sign place. Maybe a a skull with shot glasses strewn aroun him in the foreground and in the background the sliver moon and star?
